I make no secret of the fact that I'm a total podcast addict - so much so that I finally started my own one! There's pretty much not enough time in the world to listen to all the podcasts I subscribe to, so I've started listening on 1.5x to get through them - there's just so much good content out there in the podosphere (is that a thing? I'd like to make that a thing). Here's my new faves...
Paranormal AND True Crime, all in one podcast? Sign me up! Rhianna put me onto this podcast and I knew as soon as I saw the description that it would be right up my street. I love a spooky ghost story and, like the rest of the world, am endlessly fascinated by true crime so this couldn't be more perfect. It's in the style of My Favorite Murder, so if you're a fan of that podcast then I think you'll love this one.
If you haven't heard of Reni Eddo-Lodge's book 'Why I'm No Longer Talking to White People About Race' then you must have been hiding under a rock. Her work is thoughtful, thought-provoking and important. This podcast is an extension of her book, continuing the work of dissecting race in the UK and featuring some prominent anti-racism activists. It's really well produced and it's easy to digest for such a complex topic - I would encourage everyone to click subscribe on this one.
This podcast makes me laugh like no other. Nichole and and Bim explore how pop culture impacts on desire, chat about their thirst objects (from Keanu Reeves to Shug Avery) and share fan fiction drabbles. It's funny and smart and silly and basically you'll end up fancying anyone they talk about. Go back and listen to all of their episodes, especially the one where they interview Chris Evans - I basically squealed and laughed for the whole series. Bring some joy into your life with this podcast (and the accompanying Tumblr full of gifs...).
Okay, my obsession with Queer Eye is almost as great as my obsession with podcasts, so this is basically the perfect marriage of my two favourite things. Getting a regular dose of Jonathan's energy is changing my life in a really positive way. On this podcast, he interviews experts to answer questions on every topic under the sun. I listened to the episode on cults on my commute yesterday and it was definitely an interesting way to start the day!
Reading books is one of my favourite things. Talking about books is even more of one of my favourite things, and makes the reading of them even better. And on this podcast Alice and Bethany have the conversations about books that I basically want to be having every single second of every day. I've discovered so many good books from their recommendations, and I am very excited to hear them discuss one of my top five books, Rebecca, for their next Book Club episode. 10/10, would listen again.
