I was super stoked for Christmas this year, our first with Benjamin in tow - and it didn't disappoint. There will be time enough for the excitement and the magic, but this year's was just a really lovely, relaxing day. He slept through the present opening because he found it so overwhelming and his favourite was the first one we opened, and the cheapest, naturally. But there are plenty of days for him to enjoy all of his toys in the months to come, and I'm glad that he is so easily pleased right now! He tried food for the first time (Yorkshire Pudding for my little Yorkshire pudding) but didn't actually eat any of it.
I spent most of the day in the kitchen, which is how I like it, and Jess started teaching me to knit socks. We watched Harry Potter, despite Paul's protestations (he hates to watch things that he's already seen, but that goes against the tradition of Christmas), and listened to some questionable Christmas music, courtesy of Paul's new Google Home. We had to hoover up needles from the tree at least three times, and made a vow to get a fake one next year. Ben fell dead asleep as soon as he was in his cot at the end of the day, and we weren't far behind him. It was the best of days.
