Gin and Tonic with a Twist

cocktail ingredients 2

Inspired by a recipe on Pinterest, but not having all the ingredients - I attempted to make this drink for friends on New Year's Eve. Rather overzealous with the spirits, it was promptly named a 'Sin 'n' Tonic', and merriment quickly ensued. I'm relatively new to the world of gin, previously preferring sweeter concoctions, but I love the diversity of gin and its refreshing, grown-up flavour. Limoncello has also been a firm favourite of mine for years, and although I know that it is a little sickly, it combines well with the mellow gin, the slight bitter-ness of the tonic and the sharp squeeze of lime. Not a drink to be taken lightly, but delicious all the same! Despite having made this drink for NYE celebrations, it's actually the perfect, refreshing drink for the summer as well - it's sure to become a firm favourite when you're dining al fresco. But surely, any time is the right time for gin?

You'll need:

  • 1 shot gin (I used Bombay Sapphire, but any will do!)
  • 1 shot limoncello
  • 1 lime
  • Tonic (I used Tesco's own, but again - any will do!)
  • Ice

I feel a bit silly giving you the instructions, as this couldn't be simpler! Pour in your spirits, over the crushed ice. Squeeze in the juice from the lime and add the squeezed wedges to the glass for extra flavour. Top up with as much tonic as you like. Add a silly straw and enjoy!
